HCC End of Week Update
HCC UPDATE (2 SERIES)
Hamilton Southeastern sits atop the standings at 4-0 after surviving a no-hit effort from Zionsville to pull out a 1-0 win Friday evening. It was a showcase of fantastic pitching on both sides.
Spencer Mohr delivered a complete-game, three-hit shutout, striking out five and walking just one. Opposing him, lefthander Davis Moore was nearly untouchable—throwing seven no-hit innings while allowing only one unearned run in the top of the first. Moore struck out two and walked three in a tough-luck loss.
Westfield dropped its first HCC game of the season, falling 7-4 to Brownsburg in the series finale. Brownsburg’s offense was powered by a pair of Brayden’s—Brayden Greathouse went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Brayden Thompson added a double and drove in two. The Bulldogs flipped the game with a five-run fifth inning, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 5-3 lead they wouldn’t give back.
Fishers made a loud statement Friday night with a dominant 8-0 win over Noblesville. Now sitting at 2-2 in conference play, the Tigers have already navigated matchups with preseason favorites Zionsville and Noblesville.
Ethan Buelt jumpstarted the offense with a two-run homer in the third, opening the floodgates. Fishers added two more in the fourth and four in the fifth to pull away. Henry Cherry chipped in with two RBIs. On the mound, Austin Conley tossed four innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Carter Strole followed with three innings and five more strikeouts to close it out.
Franklin Central and Avon wrapped up their series Thursday night, with Avon earning a split via a 5-3 win. Caleb Wessel led the way with two hits, including a double, while Jack Bland added a solo home run.
With two series complete, the HCC race is wide open. Hamilton Southeastern continues to prove it can win in multiple ways, raising the question—who will be able to knock off a team that’s starting to feel a little inevitable?
