HCC POY WATCHLIST – WEEK 4

HCC POY WATCHLIST – WEEK 4

Separation Begins as Contenders Start Building Real Cases

Four weeks in, the early-season noise is starting to settle—and something more meaningful is taking its place.

This is where the Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year races begin to shift from hot starts to sustained impact. The numbers still matter, but context is starting to matter more. Who’s doing it consistently? Who’s doing it in big moments? And who’s turning performance into production that actually affects wins?

The Week 4 watchlist reflects that shift.

Early Top Resumes

There’s no shortage of strong arms across the HCC this year, but a few have separated themselves by combining dominance, efficiency, and results.

Griffin Snider (Noblesville) has been as close to untouchable as anyone in the conference. A sub-1.00 ERA paired with elite strikeout-to-walk numbers tells the story—this is a pitcher controlling at-bats, not surviving them. Working primarily out of the bullpen, Snider has been dominant in every opportunity, placing him squarely in the POY conversation.

Corey Wilhelm (Westfield) brings one of the most complete resumes on the board. Undefeated with a 1.45 ERA and outstanding command, Wilhelm has paired consistency with results in a way that voters tend to notice.

Spencer Mohr (Hamilton Southeastern) continues to anchor one of the conference’s top teams. His ability to limit damage and deliver wins keeps him firmly in the conversation, even without the eye-popping strikeout totals of others.

Right on the Edge

Just behind that top tier sits a pair of high-upside arms from Noblesville.

Beckett Doane (Noblesville) has been electric, piling up 40 strikeouts and overpowering hitters. When he’s in rhythm, he’s as difficult to handle as anyone in the league. The only thing separating him from the top group right now is efficiency.

Elijah Hall (Noblesville) offers a similar profile with slightly more polish. Strong strikeout numbers, improved control, and the ability to navigate lineups make him a steady presence in the rotation.

The Efficiency Case

Davis Moore (Zionsville) represents a different kind of dominance. His 2.07 ERA and microscopic opponent batting average show a pitcher who doesn’t need to overwhelm hitters—he simply doesn’t allow them to square the ball up. It’s quieter, but no less effective.

The Bigger Picture

Noblesville placing three pitchers on the watchlist isn’t just notable—it’s defining. Their depth on the mound is shaping not only the POY race, but the entire conference landscape.

Player of the Year Watchlist

The Lead Group

While the pitching race is deep, the Player of the Year conversation is starting to center around a handful of hitters who consistently drive production.

Andrew Noble (Westfield) has built one of the most complete offensive profiles in the conference. Hitting for average, getting on base at a high rate, and consistently producing extra-base hits, Noble has been the definition of reliability in the middle of the lineup.

Reid Zittel (Zionsville) has emerged as one of the most dangerous hitters in the HCC. His ability to do damage—especially in the extra-base hit department—makes him a constant threat and a key piece of Zionsville’s offense.

Aiden Reynolds (Noblesville) continues to combine power with run production, delivering impact at-bats in key situations. His ability to change a game with one swing keeps him firmly in the top tier.

Beck Jordan (Westfield) rounds out the group with a high-contact, high-production approach. His consistency has been a stabilizing force when he is in Westfield’s lineup.

In the Mix

Several hitters remain within striking distance, capable of jumping into the top tier with a strong week.

Jackson Bixler (HSE) has shown an advanced approach at the plate, getting on base consistently while providing steady production.

Jack Bland (Avon) brings one of the most explosive offensive profiles in the conference, with the ability to change games quickly through extra-base power.

Clark Bucher (HSE) continues to produce in the middle of the order, providing both power and run production.

Brayden Ring (Zionsville) may be one of the more underappreciated hitters on the list, quietly posting elite on-base numbers and setting the table consistently.

Trending and Watching

The watchlist continues to evolve, and several names are beginning to push toward inclusion.

Players like Chase Bradle (HSE), Austin Conley (Fishers), and Christian Wessel (Avon) are showing signs of breaking into the conversation as the season progresses.

What Comes Next

At this point in the season, the race is no longer about who started fast—it’s about who can sustain it.

Pitchers will face deeper lineups for the second and third time. Hitters will see better arms and more advanced scouting. Adjustments will be made.

And that’s where this race will truly be decided.

Because in the end, Player of the Year isn’t about who had the best two weeks in April.

It’s about who proves—week after week—that they’re the player everyone else has to game plan for.
