HCC End of Week Update (5/4/2026)

HCC UPDATE (4 SERIES)

The path to an HCC title is starting to come into focus—and right now, it runs through Noblesville.

The Millers took a major step Friday night at Victory Field, completing the sweep of Westfield in dramatic fashion. With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Luke Stevenson delivered an infield single to walk it off and secure a 6-5 win.

The victory pushes Noblesville to 7–1 in conference play, giving them a two-game cushion with three series remaining.

That margin matters. The Millers now control their path—they can split their remaining three series and still earn at least a share of the HCC title. But “control” doesn’t mean “easy.” What’s ahead is as tough as it gets: Hamilton Southeastern, Brownsburg, and Zionsville.

And thanks to results elsewhere, the pressure isn’t going anywhere.

Hamilton Southeastern kept themselves firmly in the race by salvaging a split against Fishers in one of the best games of the week. It was a pitcher’s duel throughout—Fishers’ Owen Lukac and Carter Strole combined to allow just one run on three hits over eight innings, while HSE’s Dylan Cope matched them nearly pitch-for-pitch, going 8.1 innings allowing one run on two hits. Chase Bradle closed it out, setting the stage for late-inning drama.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth, Alex Shepherd lofted a 2–2 pitch into shallow right that dropped for a walk-off single, giving the Royals a 2–1 win.

That swing carried weight beyond just one game.

Had Fishers completed the sweep, they would sit just two games back of Noblesville—with the toughest part of their conference schedule behind them. Instead, HSE remains the primary challenger and now gets its shot head-to-head this week in what could define the conference race.

And they won’t be alone in watching it.

Avon, Fishers, Westfield, and Zionsville all sit at 4–4 in conference play, lurking just behind. A strong week from any of them—combined with the right results up top—could quickly pull multiple teams back into the title picture.

Elsewhere, Zionsville strengthened its position with a sweep of Franklin Central, while Avon and Brownsburg split their series.

Three weeks remain. The margin for error is shrinking. And while Noblesville has created separation, the door isn’t closed—not even close.
